Sunspell

Hot sand under my feet, clear skies over my sight line. It is hard to capture the seemingly infinite landscape, but the feelings brought on by nature’s vastness was impressed on both my mind and this piece of paper.

Earth’s beauty may make us believe that everything is on course, just as this mirage in the sand glistens with the illusion of water. But the truth is much more sombering.

I reflect on the heaviness of my footprints in the sand. Although the winds will blow over my tracks, my carbon footprint and waste stream is far longer-lasting. I don’t foresee me outliving the waste that I've created that is circling the earth’s system. 

To offset some of the impact that my work and I have created, I pledge to plant fifty trees at the end of this print run. Perhaps one of those trees will outlive me.
